Club History
At the heart of Shifnal since 1921
Community means everything to us, it's why we were established. Shifnal War Memorial Club has been serving the local community for over 100 years.
The original building, which opened in 1921, was built entirely from donations made by the residents of Shifnal. The club became the focal point for all the community following the 1914-1918 Great War.
The 8th August 1982 however, was a very dark day in our club's history as the original building was gutted by a fire during the night. The building which was made entirely of wood didn't really stand a chance with only a few small pieces left undamaged.
On the 9th December 1983, the club as it stands today was officially opened. It continues to support the local community as it has always done. The wooden structure which remained from the old building was refurbished into elements that can still be seen today in our snooker room.
